Speech therapy - what is it?

Speech therapy is a medical specialty that deals with a variety of speech and language disorders. Our range of services in speech therapy includes diagnostics, advice, therapy and interdisciplinary collaboration. Language and speaking are fundamental to interpersonal communication and enable us to express our desires, feelings, thoughts and ideas. They are the “window to the soul”. But what seems simple at first glance is actually a complex task of the brain. It requires a precise interaction of muscles in the speech system, hearing and body perception, attention, memory as well as social behavior and personality development. It takes a newborn baby years to develop this ability.

Our highly qualified therapists continually educate themselves to develop tailored solutions for children and young people. They have expertise in various speech therapy areas including:

  • Speech disorders: dyslalia, stuttering, cluttering, audiogenic speech disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, etc.
  • Language disorders: language development disorder, disorder of sound acquisition (phonological disorder, vocabulary disorder, dysgrammatism, disorder of text comprehension and production, disorder of reading and written language acquisition (LRS), language comprehension disorder
